Guides & privacy

How to choose the right tool

  • Start with Format Converter when the target platform has file type requirements — use WebP for web, PNG for transparency, AVIF for maximum compression.
  • Run Compressor after conversion to hit size budgets without visible quality loss — the quality slider lets you find the sweet spot.
  • Always use EXIF Scrubber before sharing photos publicly — GPS coordinates embedded in phone photos can reveal your home or workplace.
  • Use Resize & Crop when you need exact pixel dimensions for social media, app icons, or print layouts.

Privacy and safety

All image transformations run locally using the Canvas API and Web Workers. Your personal photos, GPS coordinates, and metadata are never transmitted to UtilSnap servers.

Category FAQs

Which image format is best for websites?

WebP offers the best balance of quality and compression for modern browsers. AVIF is smaller still, but check browser support for your audience. Keep PNG for images with transparency or sharp edges like logos.

Will removing EXIF data affect image quality?

No. EXIF metadata is stored in a separate file header and does not affect the pixel data. Removing it has zero impact on visual quality.

Can I compress multiple images at once?

You can drag in multiple images and process them one by one. Batch exports are planned for a future update.

What EXIF data does a typical phone photo contain?

GPS coordinates, altitude, device model, lens settings, software version, and a precise timestamp. All of these can be removed with the EXIF Scrubber.
